Insurance is a policy where you invest a certain amount, that you do not get back, that will pay you in the event of a predetermined event. This will keep the renter from having to pay the owner out of pocket if damage to the residence occurred from something like a burglary. The home owner's insurance will cover for the same things; damage to personal property and also to the residence. Many insurance plans cover natural disasters such as storms or earthquakes. Some plans cover fire and some will not. Usually fire is covered if not set by the owner.
